By recognizing the vital role of the arts in education, the school will commit, through a rigorous arts curriculum, to the goals of providing a well-balanced education. Through the arts, the school will realize opportunities for students to explore and experiment how they learn and exist within the expressive world. In order to better align the school’s curriculum with its philosophy and mission, the arts will play a central role for each student to learn through activity and through things. Additionally, the arts curriculum will seek to further the goals of creating intrinsically motivated learners by allowing students to declare an arts specialty that taps their sense of creative exploration. Ultimately, the arts curriculum will apply a global approach that will lead learners toward identifying relationships and traits common to the arts in American culture and world cultures from differing historical and geographic perspectives. The curriculum will also guide students toward a deeper understanding of how to interpret forms and artistic genres from different perspectives for students to learn to arrive at their own conclusions. Aligned with the Florida Next Generation Sunshine State Standards, the Academic, Dance, Music, Visual Arts and Creative Writing Programs give Miami Arts' talented students comprehensive, sequential training and many performance/exhibition opportunities to develop their artistic potential to the fullest. This rigorous training, provided by a distinguished faculty of professional artists, prepares them to earn admission to the college or university of their choice, or to enter their arts field directly. The nurturing environment created by the inspiring faculty, supportive administration and the diverse and passionate student body of young artists gives Miami Arts Middle/High’s teens encouragement to grow artistically to levels beyond what even they could imagine. The Arts Programs help the students fulfill their dreams. |
