Miami Arts will provide instruction in mathematics through various branches that include operations, numeration, whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percents, ratio and proportion, equations, inequalities, functions, expressions, properties, constructions, area, volume, proofs, etc. in preparation for the FCAT. However, students will study the world of mathematics beyond the classroom. Pupils will be taught to understand mathematical reasoning and processes as well as the ability to apply mathematics in an overall context where they have to evaluate the significance of results. Students will also be taught to develop flexible strategies for problems in which solutions are not readily apparent. The curriculum in mathematics will propel students toward mastery of the Sunshine State Standards as well as toward addressing five general areas:
In order to fulfill the mathematics requirements for high school graduation, students must successfully complete fours years of course study.
