The mission of the Miami Arts Charter School is to provide a rigorous academic education, with special emphasis placed on the performing and expressive arts. Our goal is to awaken students' minds and hearts through an intensive immersion in the fine arts, and to foster a sense of connection to one another and the world.  Specializing instruction in music, dance, art, and creative writing, Miami Arts School seeks to engage students in meaningful academic work and inspiring performance experiences that will propel their artistic creativity and excite them about life itself.

Students at Miami Arts Charter School for the Arts (MACS), through powerful learning experiences, will embrace and excel in the arts and academics while working towards their visions of the future. MACS offers a specialized program combining college-preparatory academic instruction and conservatory-style training in the visual and performing arts.

Charter Schools are privately managed public schools that operate under the authority of an autonomous governing board and are licensed through a third party Licensing Educational Authority. Miami Arts Charter Schools are licensed through the Miami-Dade County Public Schools.

Miami Arts is a tuition-free public charter school run by and our goal is to create a premier public arts high school in south Florida. Currently, Miami Arts represents a single feeder structure consisting of three arts schools located on two campuses, one elementary campus and one middle/high campus. Thus, students benefit tremendously from the continuity and structured curriculum the schools offer throughout students' educational life spans, leading to the introduction of and final emergence to higher education.

Together, the three schools serve 1,300 culturally and socio-economically diverse teens from throughout Miami-Dade County. Prospective students must meet minimum academic, attendance and behavior standards, and must audition for acceptance into one of four departments: music (vocal and instrumental), creative writing, dance or visual arts. Each department selects its own students through a juried audition or portfolio review process.

Miami Arts Charter Schools represent a model small learning community offering students a direct connection to higher education. The elementary school maintains no more than 500 student seats annually and the middle and high school each carry no more than 400 students per year. Students engage in advanced studies and growth opportunities with University of Miami teachers in which students have access to master classes, lectures and participation in more advanced studies.
