The purpose of the Science program is to provide students with a thorough knowledge of scientific concepts and a broad foundation in the sciences as a precursor to post-secondary education. Coursework is designed to instill a sense of curiosity and inquiry through activities in laboratory work to foster critical thinking. The science curriculum will prepare students to meet or exceed the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards by incorporating a hands-on approach to the principal science themes: mater and energy, force and motion, earth and space, processes of life and the scientific method.

The courses in science will offer insight into basic structures and natural systems found on earth and in space, in life forms and the principals of the physical sciences. Earth and space science courses will develop concepts pertaining to the earth’s environment, the solar system, the universe and the structure and nature of Earth. The life sciences will expand upon the living world (cells, plants and animals, etc…). The physical science courses will bring to the forefront of students’ knowledge the concepts of force, energy, work, machines and gravity evident in the everyday world.
