The Theatre program at Miami Arts Charter provides the tools, instruction and experience young thespians need to fully explore their potential as artists and scholars. Miami Arts Charter is strongly committed to providing an environment which includes extensive classes and workshops in acting, direction, stage management and design. Students will also have the opportunity to apply their newly-developed skills in quality, full-scale theatrical productions. It is of vital importance for graduating students to possess a well-rounded knowledge of Theatre in preparation for prestigious programs at top colleges and universities. For this reason, students will be required to engage in performance repertoire and technical production. Students' work will be showcased throughout the school year in productions, festivals, and workshops. Upon completion of their 4th year in the Theatre department, seniors will complete a final project involving the writing of a one-act play which they will be required to perform. Students who choose Theatre are highly encouraged to expand their course of study by also electing to take classes in Creative Writing. It is the school's belief that with a strong creative writing background, theatre students will be far better served toward acceptance into a fine acting program beyond high school upon graduation. |
